Words to Live By

My darling daughter is talking. And for a two-year-old, she's got it down quite well. One of her favourite things to say to us, especially her older brother, is "Putt up", which loosely translated means, "SHUT THE HELL UP WHILE I, PRINCESS OF THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, DEIGNS TO SPEAK TO THE LOWLY AMONG YOU." And yes, I just used all-caps, but you would too if you saw the look of disdain that crosses my girl's face when she tells us where to go. Her head cocks to one side, her pointy little chin sticks up in the air, and she turns her head ever so slightly, while those beautiful eyes with the longest lashes you've ever seen, look at us, as if to say, I see you standing there before me, pauper, and you'd better make it worth my while to listen. Otherwise, you too, can PUTT UP.

She has had a nasty cold the last few days, poor Bébé, but she must be feeling better because this morning she said, "Putt up, Mummy. Peas."

Hey, she said 'please', it was the least I could do.
